What tenants actually agreed to pay, not what was advertised: the average rent of new tenancies registered with the RTB in Q4 2025, for 306 places. Each page splits the figure by bedrooms and type, shows five years of change, and states the limit on increases.

What is the average rent in Ireland?

There is no single national row in the RTB Rent Index, and one number would hide the spread: in Q4 2025 the county averages run from €1,001 to €2,165 a month. Pick the county or town above for the figure that applies to you.

Registered rent or asking rent: which is this?

Registered. Every figure here is the average rent of tenancies newly registered with the Residential Tenancies Board in the quarter, published by the CSO as the RTB Rent Index. Listing sites publish asking rents, which run higher and include homes that did not let at that price.

How often is this updated?

The CSO publishes the RTB Rent Index about two months after each quarter ends. The latest quarter with data is Q4 2025; these pages are rebuilt when the next one appears.

Why is a town missing?

The CSO suppresses a location where too few tenancies were registered in the quarter to give a reliable average. Small towns come and go from quarter to quarter for that reason. The RTB register itself still holds every tenancy, and our reports search it by Eircode.
